Day Programs

Specialty Camps (Grades 2-5)

FaySummer Specialty Camps

Campers entering grades 2-5 who wish to pursue an interest in more depth may sign up for a FaySummer Specialty Camp. FaySummer offers several two-week Specialty Camp programs for campers interested in expanding their Day Camp experience. Designed to be exciting, educational, and fun, all FaySummer Specialty Camps are led by experienced, adult staff with demonstrated expertise in their program area.

FaySummer Specialty Camps offer a half-day focused program coupled with a half-day of FaySummer Day Camp programming, which includes time in the pool, ropes course activities, arts and crafts, archery, and sports and games.

All FaySummer Specialty Camps must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, campers will be able to transfer to another Specialty Camp or another FaySummer program.

Session 1 (June 26 - July 7)

List of 4 items.

  • Kids Kitchen: Cook, Bake & Decorate (Gr. 2 & 3)

Get ready to roll up your sleeves, get creative, and learn life-long culinary skills to amaze your family and friends!  Campers will cook, bake, and decorate a wide variety of sweet and savory foods: they’ll work with breads, doughs, cakes, pastry decorations and fillings, candy, pastas, sushi, and more! Campers will participate in a themed cake decorating contest and will also have time to focus on creative projects like 3D drawing, slime making, and mixed-media DIY projects.
All ingredients used during the session will be nut-free, and allergies and food restrictions may be accommodated with substitutions if known in advance.
  • Science of Super Powers & Robotics Extravaganza (Gr. 2 & 3)

During the first week of this camp, campers learn about the science behind their favorite heroes' powers. They explore gravity, aerodynamics, forces, motion, and much more as they learn about staying in flight, super villain tactics, and what makes superhero vehicles go! During the second week, the camp transitions and is all about robots. Campers will build and program robotic helicopters, race cars, dinosaurs, dragonflies, and much more.
  • Sports Camp (Gr. 2-5)

Get ready to be active, have fun, and take part in all your favorite sports! Campers will be introduced to a variety of sports (including baseball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, athletic challenges, basketball, and more) along with their unique rules, skills, and drills, all in one setting with plenty of practice and playing time. Counselors will focus on developing young athletes' skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Campers will be split into age-appropriate groups for this program.
  • Art & Architecture (Gr. 3-5)

In this camp, campers will learn the basics of architecture, from drawing and designing to creating structures and buildings. Campers will dive into hand-on projects that will unleash their inner architect and artist: they'll design the home of their dreams, discover the inspiration for famous buildings and bridges, and plan a new roller coaster for their favorite theme park.

Session 2 (July 10 - 21)

List of 4 items.

  • LEGO Engineering: Castles, Kingdoms & Wizards (Gr. 2 & 3)

In this Specialty Camp, campers will build their own magical world of wizardry, from knights and dragons to crowns and castles! Campers will use LEGO bricks to build their foundational understanding of simple machines, physics, and engineering design. They'll see moving parts up close as they follow instructions to build machines, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their fellow campers.
  • Tennis (Gr. 2-5)

After years of great camps, FaySummer has once again partnered with the Waterfall Tennis Academy, directed by Coach Waterfall, for our summer tennis program. Each daily three-hour session will focus on stroke fundamentals, match play, fast-paced drills, and exciting games. Campers will benefit from great coaching staff, fun games, and a safe environment, all on Fay’s campus.
Tennis players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level.
  • Broadway Bootcamp: Musical Theater (Gr. 3-5)

Learn the ins and outs of musical theater performance during our popular Broadway Bootcamp Specialty Camp. During this camp, campers will be singing, acting, and dancing their way through classical and contemporary musical theater scenes and songs. Campers will not only work on performing musical theater pieces, but they will also have the opportunity to create a set, costumes, and props for a final showcase for families to view.
The two-week program is geared towards both new and seasoned musical theater enthusiasts. All are welcome to join and no experience is needed.
  • Summer Scientists: Experiments & Explosions (Gr. 4 & 5)

In this science enrichment program, campers will conduct a different experiment each day in our WOW Lab that will challenge them to hypothesize, observe, and watch in wonder. Campers will have a "blast" while building their scientific knowledge and even have a few "wow moments" along the way.

Session 3 (July 24 - August 4)

During the first week of this Specialty Camp, campers will take on engineering and design challenges while working as a team to complete timed tasks. They will be challenged to design and build complex objects, work cooperatively with others to secure their place on a team, and compete to be the fastest and most precise builders in the camp. During the second week, campers will learn how to take an idea and turn it into a building in the real world. They will be guided through the building process, from creating a floor plan to disaster-proofing the structure, so that they will be able to create the next best thing in LEGO® architecture!

Session 4 (August 7-18)

List of 3 items.

  • Art Adventures (Gr. 2 & 3)

In this program for art enthusiasts, campers learn and experiment with a variety of art techniques and mediums, but with an eco-twist: they'll upcycle ‘trash’ and recyclable materials into creative creations such as murals, decorative containers, and wearable art. Let your creativity run wild, dream big, and help the environment along the way as you stretch your creativity this summer.
  • Horseback Riding (Gr. 3-5)

FaySummer's horseback riding Specialty Camp at Century Mill Stables is a fun and interactive way to learn the basics of horsemanship and riding, or to continue to develop skills. Each day, campers will learn the basics of good horse care through grooming, general knowledge of equipment, parts of the horse, and colors and breeds. The riding portion of the lesson includes steering and control while riding at the walk and trot, correct rider body position, and some horseback games. Century Mill’s program is fully licensed with experienced instructors; the stable has an indoor ring and heated/air conditioned lounge area, so lessons run in all weather. Their barn follows the best practices of the industry for safety and horse care and has an excellent safety record, with healthy, well-rested, happy horses and ponies for the campers to enjoy.
Pick-up and drop-off are on the Fay campus, and campers will be transported to Century Mill Stables by a FaySummer staff member.
  • Animal Robotics, Pokemania & Minecraft (Gr. 4 & 5)

This Specialty Camp offers a great opportunity to explore multiple topics and passions across two weeks of camp. The first week will be a combination of LEGO based Pokémania and Minecraft programs. Campers will explore the Pokémon world and practice their Pokémon training skills. They will create their own training gyms, unique battles, and even their very own generation of Pokémon. They will also explore some real-world science as they examine the habitats, characteristics, and needs of different Pokémon. In addition, campers will transition from the virtual 2D world of Minecraft, to practicing their creativity and LEGO construction skills all based on the Minecraft themes they know and love. During the second week, animal lovers will be able to build a variety of LEGO® Spike Prime robotic creatures that respond to each of their programmed commands. Working in teams, campers will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how to program software for their robot creations.
