Specialty Camps



FaySummer Specialty Camps

Campers who wish to pursue an interest in more depth may sign up for a FaySummer Specialty Camp. FaySummer offers several one-week Specialty Camp programs for campers interested in expanding their Day Camp experience. Designed to be exciting, educational, and fun, all FaySummer Specialty Camps are led by experienced, adult staff with demonstrated expertise in their program area. FaySummer Specialty Camps offer a half-day single focused program coupled with a half-day of FaySummer Day Camp programming.
 
Please note that Specialty Camps must have a minimum enrollment to run. If a program has low enrollment, campers will be able to transfer to another Specialty Camp or another FaySummer program.

  • Boys & Girls Basketball

    in partnership with Behn Basketball Camps
    FaySummer has partnered with the largest and most successful basketball camp in New England, Behn Basketball, to offer a week of high-level basketball instruction. Campers focus on proper shooting technique, take part in team play on both offense and defense, and practice good sportsmanship, all while making friends and having fun.

  • FaySummer Creative Kitchen

    Come bake away from the summer sun at FaySummer! During this weeklong kitchen adventure, campers will bake and decorate cookies and cakes, make homemade pita chips and hummus, and learn about the importance of nutrition, balanced diets, and eating fresh, local and seasonal food.   FaySummer bakers will learn why ingredients work together and why each ingredient is important in a recipe.

  • Boys & Girls Soccer

    in partnership with John Smith Soccer Academy
    FaySummer has partnered with the John Smith Soccer Academy to offer a half-day of soccer instruction with a half-day of traditional camp activities. Soccer Camp is a great option for both beginner and experienced players: this camp is designed to help players of all skill levels improve on the fundamentals of the game and enhance technical and tactical soccer skills. Campers are divided into groups by age and ability.

  • Boys & Girls Tennis

    in partnership with Waterfall Tennis Academy
    FaySummer is partnering with the Waterfall Tennis Academy, directed by Dick Waterfall, for our summer tennis program. Each daily three-hour session will focus on stroke fundamentals, match play, fast-paced drills, and exciting games.

  • Horseback Riding

    in partnership with Century Mill Stables
    FaySummer Horseback Riding Camp at Century Mill Stables is a fun and interactive way to learn the basics of horsemanship and riding or to continue to develop a rider’s skills. Each day campers learn the basics of good horse care through grooming, general knowledge of equipment, parts of the horse, and colors and breeds. The riding portion of the lesson includes steering and control while riding at the walk and trot, correct rider body position, and some horseback games. Century Mill’s program is fully licensed with experienced instructors; the stable has an indoor ring and heated/air conditioned lounge area, so classes run in all weather. Their barn follows the best practices of the industry for safety and horse care and has an excellent safety record, with healthy, well-rested, happy horses and ponies for the campers to enjoy.

  • Learn to Sail

    in partnership with Regatta Point Community Sailing
    Join us on the water! Campers will learn the basics of sailing, including boat parts, rigging/derigging, wind direction, points of sail, and water safety while also playing games, swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. This program is designed to help campers develop boating and collaborative skills while becoming comfortable on and around the water.

  • Olympic Madness

    in partnership with Little Scholars
    Go for the gold! Carry the Olympic torch to summer camp, where you will participate in individual competitions and team-based challenges. Olympic Madness is for all those campers who want to try new sports and take their physical abilities to a new level.

  • Speedy Kidz Running Camp

    Do you have a child who loves to run, who wants to improve their speed for team sports, or who enjoys a low-pressure, fun summer activity? Our running camp is for you! Join Olympian Steph Reilly and Coach Kevin Myles for five days of running fast, making friends, and having fun. Speedy Kidz Running Camp offers a supportive environment where campers can improve fitness and self-confidence through endurance and reaction training, form drills, stretching, and games. Speedy Kidz Running Camp is perfect for kids who want to take their running to the next level or for those who want to enjoy a less competitive summer activity.

  • Chess

    Fay welcomes U.S. Chess Life Master Lou Mercuri for this camp, where students learn the basic moves of chess and beyond—including checkmating patterns, opening strategies, tactics, famous games from the great players, and visualizing at least a couple of moves ahead. Players have the opportunity to play each other in a supervised setting with helpful tips and advice on how to improve, and they also work in small teams to take on problem-solving challenges together.

  • National Treasure Hunt

    in partnership with Little Scholars
    Celebrate Fourth of July week with the ultimate treasure hunt. Unravel mysteries, crack clues, and decode cyphers to unlock the secrets to our nation’s history. Learn to solve a variety of complex coded puzzles as you delve deep into the symbols of our past. Who will be the first to claim the treasure?

  • Summer on the Farm

    in partnership with Community Harvest Project
    Sow seeds of community and reap the rewarding harvest this summer! For this camp, mornings are spent at Community Harvest Project, a farm in North Grafton dedicated to improving access to healthy foods for people in need. Students participate in hands-on activities integral to furthering the farm’s mission, such as harvesting and washing fresh fruits and vegetables for donation. Campers also explore why access to healthy food is so important, prepare tasty snacks, design delicious and balanced meals, and unlock the surprising value of vegetables. Get your hands dirty while you make a difference in your community!

  • Art Exploration

    If you love art, you’ll love everything about this camp! Campers learn and experiment in a variety of art techniques and media, including painting, illustration, three-dimensional art, and keepsake crafts. Our expert staff will tailor instruction to all levels of talent and skill. Art Exploration is designed to help campers interested in art grow and gain confidence with their creativity.

  • Broadway Bootcamp

    Join us at FaySummer to learn the ins and outs of musical theater performance! Campers will be singing, acting, and dancing their way through classical and contemporary musical theater scenes and songs. Each two-week session is geared towards both new and seasoned musical theater enthusiasts. Campers will not only work on performing musical theater pieces but will also have the opportunity to create a set, costumes, and props for a final showcase.

  • Circus Arts

    The circus is coming back to Fay for one week in 2018! Jed the Jester brings over 20 years of performing and teaching to Fay’s unique Circus Arts Camp. In this weeklong session, campers learn the secrets and skills of circus arts performers, including juggling, balance, stilt walking, balloon animals, and intro magic. This year's camp is designed for newcomers through advanced returners, with daily showcase performances. At the end of the week, we’ll welcome you to our Big Top with our own circus arts performance!

  • Advanced Wearables: Sports & Health Track

    in partnership with Einstein by Design

    Design and build wearable sports-related technology that tracks health measures such as heart rate, then collaborate as a group to design a project that addresses a social innovation challenge. Projects include a Smart Watch build and a health bioinformatics tracking t-shirt.

  • Build Your Own Remote-Controlled Car

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    In this camp, budding car designers explore fundamental physics concepts as they learn about vehicle design and optimization. Campers will learn about aerodynamics, brakes, tires, and steering, and they'll use Bluetooth technology to create a remote control car of their own.

  • Computer Game & App Development with Raspberry Pi

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    During this weeklong program, campers will learn how to write code using a Raspberry Pi, a small, single-board computer. Campers will practice problem solving as a team and learn the logic of programming through highly interactive, physical games.

  • Drone Technology: Mini-Quadcopter Build

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    Learn to design, build, and fly your very own drone! Campers will learn about the design, fabrication, and safe operation of drones by building their own mini-quadcopters, which are fully functional drones. Campers will learn how to solder and identify key electronic and mechanical components, as well as how to troubleshoot and repair designs.

  • Intro to Wearable Technology

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    Fashion, technology, and textile skills collide in a Project Runway meets Hackathon extravaganza! This innovative program combines fashion-specific information and technology with traditional textile craft making. Campers will learn about textile construction techniques, draping, illustration, knitting, dyeing, computer-aided design, and textile engineering. Students apply cross-discipline craftsmanship and put on an end-of-camp fashion show to exhibit their new creations.

  • Product Design with 3D Printing, Raspberry Pi & Arduino

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    In this introductory product design class, campers will construct a functioning prototype of their own design. This course focuses on mechanical construction, characteristics of sensors, motors and gears, and control strategies for autonomous devices. Campers will design, build, and program IofT devices that move, talk, sense, and activate. Materials used in the class will include 3D printed plastics, textiles, micro-controllers, and other up-cycled art and design materials. At the end of the week, there will be a design showcase where participants present their prototypes.

  • STEAM Explorers

    in partnership with Einstein by Design
    Develop an innovator mindset at this camp, where highly-trained Lead Explorers help campers select projects from the following modules: Music and Mechanical Engineering, Flight and Aerial Photography, Textiles and Technology, IoT Build with Arduino, and Virtual Reality Game and App Creation with Google Cardboard. To complete their projects, campers will have access to some of the latest technology tools, as well as traditional crafts and tools depending on their focus. The week will be filled with making and tinkering, learning new tools, inventing, and gaining confidence as an innovative thinker.
