English Immersion at FaySummer for Ages 10-15

Every summer, students age 10 to 15 come from all over the world to take part in the FaySummer English Immersion Program. Offered as a four-week or two-week summer program, our program offers a combination of academics, cultural interactions, electives, summer camp activities, travel experiences, and total English language immersion. The FaySummer English Immersion Program is an ideal setting for students to improve their English skills through daily classroom instruction, with opportunities to put their English language skills to work in activities with American students who are enrolled in other summer programs.

Program Overview

At the beginning of the session, teachers assess each student’s skill level and place him or her into one of three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. At each level, students focus on improving fluency and developing the necessary skills to become a successful language learner.

Students enrolled in the FaySummer English Immersion Program take three academic classes each morning: Vocabulary, Storytelling, and Reading & Writing in the Humanities. In the afternoons, students participate in camp activities alongside Academic Adventures students. There is an activity block scheduled after dinner, and before bed, students are able to socialize and use technology to connect with home.

Throughout the summer, teachers continually assess student progress and send home updates as needed. Teachers also provide an end-of-summer written report on each student’s progress, along with a summary from the student’s advisor.

The Fay School Campus

FaySummer’s English Immersion Program takes place on Fay School’s 66-acre campus in Southborough, Massachusetts, USA. 25 miles from Boston and 190 miles from New York City. Students have access to all of the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, including two pools, athletic fields, tennis courts, gyms, indoor rock climbing wall, outdoor adventure course, theater, visual arts center, and a Center for Creativity and Design. Students stay in comfortable, air-conditioned dormitories, in double or triple rooms. Dorm parents live in the dorms, providing 24-hour supervision and care. Students enjoy family-style meals in Fay’s historic dining room, where students have access to an array of nutritious options.

It is not intended for beginner English speakers or those without a basic foundation in English conversational and compositional vocabulary.
  • Where do students live?
