  • Adventure Camp Counselor

    June 28 – August 20, 2021

    Description
    FaySummer seeks applicants for Adventure Camp Counselor to work during its 8-week summer camp program for children ages 3 to 15 years. Adventure Camp Counselors spend the day working with campers and staff, participating in activities, and ensuring the safe operations of the challenge course. This includes high and low ropes as well as an indoor and outdoor climbing wall.
     
    The position will begin with staff training during the week of June 21, in preparation for camp opening on June 28, 2021. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be available.
     
    Qualifications
    Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and currently or previously enrolled in a college program. A bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children ages 3 to 15 in a camp, school, or child care setting are preferred. Experience or training in challenge course activities is strongly preferred. The ability to supervise staff and work as a team is required. Candidates are expected to be professional and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Attending all required orientation and training sessions
    • In collaboration with the Outdoor Adventure Team Leader, planning and supervising the daily operations of the challenge course, including safety inspections, general maintenance, and camper supervision
    • Interacting with staff and campers throughout the day to encourage community development 
    • Understanding FaySummer emergency policies and procedures, and providing instruction to staff and campers about these procedures
    • Providing general care and safety oversight for all children attending FaySummer camps and direct care and oversight for children in assigned groups
    • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets
    • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities
    • Modeling FaySummer’s standards of respect for all members of the community, dress code, good manners, kindness, and behavior; ensuring that campers understand and comply with these community expectations

  • Camp Counselor

    June 28 – August 20, 2021

    Description
    FaySummer seeks applicants for the position of Camp Counselor to work during its 8-week summer day camp program for children ages 3 to 15 years. Camp Counselors spend the day working with campers, participating in activities, helping campers make friends and try new things, while ensuring each child’s physical safety. FaySummer has been running for more than 20 years and is set on a beautiful, 66-acre campus.
     
    The position will begin with staff training during the week of June 21, in preparation for camp opening on June 28, 2021. Camp runs Monday through Friday and staff will have 40-hour work weeks. With the extended morning and afternoon options there will be some earlier and later shifts available. Camp Counselors report to their Unit Leader and the Camp Director.
     
    Qualifications
    Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and graduated high school. A bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children ages 3 to 15 in a camp, school, or child care setting are preferred. Candidates are expected to be professional, have strong verbal communication skills, and to have a high level of comfort giving direction when required. The ideal candidate will have energy, enthusiasm and be safety conscious. A positive attitude and desire to ensure that campers have the best experience possible is essential.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Attending all required orientation and training sessions
    • Understanding and implementing FaySummer emergency policies and procedures
    • Providing general care and safety oversight for all children attending FaySummer camps and direct care and oversight for children in assigned groups
    • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets
    • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities
    • Modeling FaySummer’s standards of respect for all members of the community, dress code, good manners, kindness, and behavior; ensuring that campers understand and comply with these community expectations
    • Implementing and operating within COVID-19 safe procedures.

  • Distance Learning English Intensive Teacher

    July 18 – August 12, 2021

    Description
    FaySummer seeks applicants for Distance Learning English Intensive Teachers to work during its 4-week online program for children from around the world, ages 10 to 15 years. The English teacher will implement and adapt the provided curriculum for the students enrolled in the course and ensure lessons are age and ability appropriate for their group. All students and teachers will be remote with synchronous lessons being delivered daily, Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. This position reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
     
    The FaySummer Distance Learning English Intensive is an ideal setting for students to improve English skills and learn about American culture and customs through daily classroom instruction, careful guidance, and targeted feedback. Experience working with Asian students is a plus.
     
     
    Qualifications
    A bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children ages 10 to 15 in a camp or school setting is preferred. Candidates are expected to be professional, enjoy and be able to work effectively with children from diverse cultures and different countries, have strong communication skills, and to have a high level of comfort giving direction when required. Experience delivering virtual lessons and setting asynchronous work is strongly preferred.
     
    Responsibilities include:
     
    • Administering curriculum
    • Writing scheduled progress reports for each student in the class
    • Communicating regularly with the Director of Auxiliary Program
    • Maintaining a positive attitude with students and colleagues
    • Having strong and reliable internet connection

  • Swim Instructor and Lifeguard

    June 28 – August 20, 2021

    Description
    FaySummer seeks applicants for Swim Instructor / Lifeguard to work during its 8-week summer camp program for children ages 3 to 15 years. The position will begin with staff training during the week of June 21, in preparation for camp opening on June 28, 2021. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. On a rotating schedule, one day a week, the normal work schedule will be 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. for extended swim time. Additional hours may be available.
     
    Aquatics staff work as a team to create a safe, fun, well-organized, and educational program that includes swim lessons, free swim, and swim tests. Lifeguard duties will include assisting in pool maintenance responsibilities. This is a seasonal position and is not eligible for benefits.  The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard reports to the Aquatics Director and to the Director of Auxiliary Programs. This is an active position that requires constant interaction with campers and counselors.
     
    Fay School has two outdoor pools and we seek to have all campers access the pool each day. Time will be split between lifeguard duties and swim instruction as well as other pool duties as required.
     
    Qualifications
    Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and hold a current lifeguard certification, as well as first aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Previous experience working with children ages 3 to 15 is strongly preferred. Candidates are expected to be professional and to have a high level of comfort enforcing water safety procedures with campers and staff.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Assessing camper swimming abilities and delivering individualized swim instruction to teach water safety and to improve basic strokes
    • Developing and implementing deep-end swim test procedures
    • Assisting in pool maintenance tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, general clean-up, and lock-down of the pool area and equipment
    • Participating in all camp orientation programs
    • Being a role model for FaySummer and Fay School and championing the core values

  • Activity Leader: Archery

    June 28 – August 20, 2021

    Description
    FaySummer seeks an experienced Archery Activity Leader, to work during its 8-week summer camp program with children ages 6 to 15 years. The Activity Leader will spend the day running age-appropriate archery instruction for campers. The Activity Leader will plan, manage supplies, set-up and run all activities and utilize camp counselors to assist. Sessions will last approximately 40 minutes and there will be a continual rotation throughout the day as to run a program for multiple groups each day.
     
    The position will begin with assisting the Camp Director with supplies ordering and program planning in line with the camp operating procedures. There will be staff training during the week of June 21, in preparation for camp opening on June 28, 2021. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

    Qualifications
    Candidates must have a strong background of delivering safe and fun archery programs.  Experience working with children ages 6 to 15 in a camp, school, or similar setting and a bachelor’s degree is preferred. The ability to schedule and supervise staff is required. Candidates are expected to be professional and have strong verbal and communication skills. Currently certified archery instructors are strongly preferred otherwise a course must be passed before starting work.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Attending all required orientation and training sessions
    • Contributing to the design and implementation of the summer Archery programs including schedules and curriculum.
    • In collaboration with the Day Camp Director, planning and supervising the daily operations of the archery range and supplies, including safety inspections, general maintenance, and camper supervision
    • Interacting with staff and campers throughout the day to encourage community development 
    • Understanding FaySummer emergency policies and procedures, and providing instruction to staff and campers about these procedures
    • Providing direct care and oversight for camper and counselors during archery lessons
    • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets
    • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities
    • Modeling FaySummer’s standards of respect for all members of the community, dress code, good manners, kindness, and behavior; ensuring that campers understand and comply with these community expectations

    Description
    FaySummer seeks an experienced Arts & Crafts Activity Leader, to work during its 8-week summer camp program for children ages 3 to 15 years. The Activity Leader will spend the day running age appropriate projects in the art rooms for all campers. The Activity Leader will plan, manage supplies, set-up and run all activities and utilize camp counselors to assist. Sessions will last approximately 40 minutes and there will be a continual rotation throughout the day as to run a program for each age group each day.
     
    The position will begin with assisting the Camp Director with supplies ordering and project planning in line with the camp themes of the week.  There will be staff training during the week of June 21, in preparation for camp opening on June 28, 2021. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

    Qualifications
    Candidates must have vast experience working with children ages 3 to 15 in a camp, school, or similar setting. A bachelor’s degree and experience with multiple mediums is preferred. The ability to schedule and supervise staff is required. Candidates are expected to be professional and have strong verbal and communication skills.
     
    Responsibilities include:
    • Attending all required orientation and training sessions
    • Contributing to the design and implementation of summer Arts & Crafts programs including schedules and curriculum.
    • In collaboration with the Camp Director, planning and supervising the daily operations of the art rooms and supplies, including safety inspections, general maintenance, and camper supervision
    • Interacting with staff and campers throughout the day to encourage community development 
    • Understanding FaySummer emergency policies and procedures, and providing instruction to staff and campers about these procedures
    • Providing general care and safety oversight for all children attending FaySummer camps and direct care and oversight for children in assigned groups
    • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets
    • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities
